Anke Loots (b. 1991) grew up in Pretoria, South Africa before establishing herself as a photographer in Cape Town. After graduating in 2012 she worked alongside photographer Pieter Hugo and since 2019 has established herself locally and internationally in the fine art and advertising photography world.
She has exhibited her work in group shows at The Photographers Gallery (Ldn 2021), The Fourth (Cpt 2022), Bhalla Munro (Nyc 2023) and in 2019 she had a solo show, titled Everything In Its Right Place at THK Gallery (Cpt). Her work has also been seen at Investec and Fnb Art Fair in South Africa (2019).
Anke’s photography seeks to express what it means and feels like to experience the human body, mind and spirit. She uses observation of balance and truth-seeking through daily somatic practice. The resulting images reflect on the impermanence and magnificence of human existence, often in an intimate and surrealist way.
